Valencia has been throwing a spanner in the works for everyone as usual as it is a very changeable circuit. It has always been the same since we first came here in 2000, you can test here and everything is good or you can be struggling, you come back next time and it is all good or you struggle. It’s never really the same twice, it can depend on if we have some rain in the night and I think a lot of it has to do with the direction the wind blows through out the night. It is quite sandy and dusty on the outside of the track I think a bit of sand and dust gets on the circuit and the temperature also changes a lot here very quickly.
So it is very difficult to have the same conditions for a long period of time here at Valencia but my setting, I have an all round setting which is not quite perfect but on a good day when the track has grip it is OK and when it is not so good it is not such a bad setting. It is a good balance that we have found with the bike and for me it is a track that you are never going to have the bike perfect, it is not possible.
You just have to get the best to make the most consistent lap time for the longest period of time, but it is the same for everybody so it makes it interesting for the race. I’ve not thought about Monza yet, I’m just taking each race as it comes, each session get the bike set up as good as we can.
My kids are doing good but we left the children with Nan and Pop and Sam’s mum in England. It’s good to give Sam a break you know a weekend off, and it lets me relax and not worry about anything when I’m here at the track. Just little things taking him for a ride on the bike which he loves to do, it just takes up time that I really want to be talking with the mechanics or spending time here with the hospitability people, or just relaxing. I think they will come to a few of the races; Sam will still be here at every race. Same enjoys it a bit more too I think being here by herself. They are doing fantastic, growing up very fast and a lot of fun.
