Alstare Corona Extra Suzuki rider Yukio Kagayama had a tough weekend at Valencia, here he tells Crash.net what he can remember about it...
Hi Yuki fans,
My start to the season has not been so good but I think it will get better soon. Valencia was a tough weekend and I'm bruised from my crashes.
In free practice, I ran with two qualifying tyres, I used both two times. One I used gave better feeling and I made a good lap time. In free practice two I made a big mistake, I tried the qualifying tyre again and put on a new qualifying tyre but this tyre had a different feeling, so different feeling. I was riding the same but had a big high side - big hit on my head, and big hit on my wrist. My memory is gone after crash - no remember. Thirty minutes after crash I don't remember at all, of course I go to Clinica Mobile and have x-ray and talk to people, but no remember anything now.
Apart from crash I make a good setting on race tyres and race pace was OK. My hand was still painful and cannot use full braking so I cannot push too much. Race one I was keeping position six but my setting felt better and lap time was constant. It is sad feeling, because if my hand felt more normal then for sure I would get good results. Second race still similar feel, my left hand sometime cannot move and I make mistake to crash in braking area; I injured my wrist and ankle.
We make very nice setting with my Suzuki, the chassis is feeling better but now only my body needs to feel better, I hope to make a quick recovery. My daughter has been riding around the paddock on her electric motorbike and chasing friends on it. I don't know if she will race, I think she will decide this!
My family is going back to Belgium and we then take some holiday there and we enjoy some time off. I don't know if I will be at any of the British Superbike races this year, sometimes I talk to Paul Denning and I know the results. Good luck to my Rizla team for
Oulton Park.
