I was happy with the races because although I finished back in the pack it was a massive improvement from last year as although the races were quicker, we finished closer to the leaders. There are just more bikes in between now. Obviously pulling into the pits in race one whilst in eleventh position turned out to be the wrong decision, I probably could make up some excuse, but that’s not what I do, I tell it as it is. I felt sorry for the team who always put in one hundred effort but given some of our recent problems I think they understood.
As for Monza that’s a difficult one to talk about, Monza is a difficult track; you spend more than fifty percent of the time at full throttle so the stress on the engine is huge. I knew it’s a track where we would be slow but I have never in my career had to start a race like I had to at Monza and I hope I never have to again. At the end of the day we had a bad run at Monza but I am more determined than ever to improve and get back up the front for the Silverstone race which is on home soil for our guys.
Catch you at
Silverstone.
