Good and bad news for Biaggi.

On Tuesday, the Roman - who fractured his left wrist in a huge accident at Phillip Island on March 2 - had the cast removed from his injured limb and checks made to determine how well it is healing.

In bike racing the punishment never fits the crime. Make a mistake and you lose points and probably get injured.

Troy Bayliss effectively lost the WSBK 2007 championship at Donington last year.

Max Biaggi will have to play catch up carrying an injury for the next few months.

Racers who crash out in the initial few races do not win the championship. It is always better to just go for the points.

Why do the do it? Why do their teams let them?

I think Max was mentally playing 'catch-up' to where he thought he should if the gear shifter had not broken on Superpole day.

In this incident though I think the punishment was minor. This was a huge crash and he got away lightly imo.

On the PI races he obviously had the pace to cream the opposition. I think he should have double checked himself though and eased off a little when he was in line for good points.

However....he's a racer!!!
