Max Neukirchner suffered appalling fortune at Valencia on Sunday, when the Alstare Suzuki rider was taken down within sight of his first World Superbike victory.
I feel absolutely gutted for Max, I'm sure he can recover from this and hopefully get his first win this season

What Checa did was nothing short of dangerous riding. Some might claim it was a 'racing incident' but he tried a move that was impossible and resulted in injury to a fellow rider (as well as the lost win / points). Checa should be disqualified from the race and perhaps additional races too.

yep! that's poor message from Max:( he was amazing in this race and I wanted to see him on 1st place. But things happens and he will reach what he want later. Checa needs to learn that sometimes he should secure his place even in front of his national crowd. He's fast but not smart. Anyway, both, they'll win in future some races.

I take it that those of you slating Checa were saying the same things about Haga when he took out Kagayama at Losail in 2006?

Absolutely gutted for Max -- he so DESERVED to get his first win, after an outstanding performance. Here's to a quick recovery and a great season ahead for Max. No way should Checa be allowed to keep his points from that race.

I thought Checa was better than that. I was wrong.
No way could that have worked except to have put Neukirchener at risk - even if Checa hadn't binned it the line and the braking Checa would have needed would have made the corner almost imposible for Neukirchener. It wasn't OK. It wasn't a 'racing incident'. It was dangerous. He *should* be penalised..... But he won't be. If he gets ******d by Xaus or Laconi sometime I won't have much sympathy for him.
yes but there is a point: he probably doesn't riding to make me or you happy, he just riding to make him happy I guess after podium he became more consistent and less desperated. But that how he passed both riders in second race...WOW! Don't worry about Max, more worried should be Biaggi, Corser and other more couse this season shows riders like Max are VERY strong.

checa has been my favourite rider for nearly 15 years now, and normally i wont hear a word said against him... but this time he was well out of order.
Hero to Zero, fantastic skill full riding from Checa with some fantastic overtakes totally overshadowed by complete last corner madness. Needs at least a race ban it to understand dangerous riding is unaceptable.

I think Careless Chucker struck again but Max is a very good rider and will recover to win another day.

C'mon guys, have you ever been on the heels of the race leader at the entrance of the last turn of the race? You have to decide in a fraction of a second what to do to win the race, depending very much of what the leader is doing. Max did not close the door securely, he left a small possibility for Checa, and the Spaniard saw a possible win. OK it did not work, but a true champion tries to win whenever there is a possibility. I am terribly sorry for Max, because his superpole and his race were amazing, I'm pissed off at Checa because I never like the guy and obviously it appears afterwards that his attempt was reckless, but again for me it's racing, nothing more.

It was a race.
Carlos was entitled to make a go for it. As a racer you have to go for it. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.
It was a racing incident. Anyone who seriously thinks that Checa should have sat behind Max should have a rethink. Max left s slight gap and as a racer Carlos was entitled to have a go.
Thats racing.

Carlos was the matador and Neukirchner the bull. And as we all know, the result of a bull fight is a foregone conclusion before it begins. For the bull to win it must run faster or become smarter...olé

I feel sorry for Neukichner but when you are a racer and you do get the chance to get a win in front of your fans in your country then you go for it, if you are a team manager or a sponsor and you see your rider not trying to win when the other rider in front open the door then you may be disappointed, it didn't work out and Neukichner is paying a big price for Checa's move but then again motorcycle racing is dangerous and this is not ballet dancing, for slowing down too much the previous lap Max did also allowed Checa to get close to him, maybe he was thinking too much about the win I was so close to get, at the end what did happen is a racing accident due to a certain number of factors.

First im really sorry for Max and i hope he will be ok as soon as possible.
I think it was a race accident. Checa saw the oportunity in the last corner and he tried. It was a difficult move and i will only work 1 time of 100 that you tried but you cant blame him for trying. What im not happy its that Carlos didnt take more responsability when he said he was sorry after race 2. And problably he shouldnt have celabrate anything with the fans after race 1.
But truth to be told Checa has been taken out in Qatar and in Australia. And i didnt hear anyone coplaining so hard. I know its quite a different situation because this was the last corner and they were fighting for the victory.

Crap! comments, from time to time they all do this kind of move, Checa was there to win not to be second!, If your realy flying and the bikes good you try to win end of story..

Granted Checa was there to win and not finish 2nd. But he didn't finish in either of those positions and neither did Max. Checa should have accepted 2nd and then gone and try to win the 2nd race. I feel sorry for Max, broken collarbone, still no win and I also feel sorry for me as well, as my Fantasy Road Race scores are now well down - boo hoo!
