Race two at Assen proved to be harder fought up front between Haga and Bayliss but further back the battles were a little less fraught than in race one.
Way to go Baylisstic!! That is just bull shit about slowing down his 1098R..he was the only Ducati on the damn podium and the article here states it itself that Bayliss would be dominant on any frieken bike!!! Look, the guy badly bruises his back after a bicycle crash two days before the race and he still whips all the other Ducatis and inline fours!! He's just a better more determined rider!! He should not be penalized for having such a huge points lead when he has ridden his tail off to get it on the same machinery that Fabrizio can't even make the top ten on!!! Slowing down his bike so the others can eat away on his points lead is stupid!! I hope the other riders are man enough to say no.

If he's so dominant on any "frieken bike" then why did James Toseland well and truly kick his ass goodstyle last year. Yep he's truly dominant when there's no real competition like Toseland or Edwards...

Difficult one this. I'm a massive Haga fan and I'm desparate to see him win at least 1 title, but I respect Bayliss for his grit, ability and class as a person. That said, I would WORSHIP him if he could manage to do what he is doing on anything other than the 1098! Ducati are clever - they will never employ a second rider of Bayliss' calibre as that would increase their points average per meeting, and thus mean they would incur weight penalties a lot sooner. The bike should be a 1098s not the cooking r version, christ if Smrz can suddenly get top spot in a practice session on a customer version of the 1098r then alarm bells have got to start ringing...
Avin, you know nothing!! Colin beat Bayliss in 2002 because Bayliss crashed out in Assen. Despite losing in 2002..he still racked up the most wins..go figure...Toseland got lucky, Bayliss crashed in Brands Hatch and it truly slowed him down..even on a underpowered 999 he still won 5 races..what happened in 06? he spanked Toseland all over the circuit...what happened in 06 Moto gp in Valencia? he spanked every moto gp superstar within a weeks notice...you know nothing Avin. Read more.watch more..criticizing the Baylisstic missile are fighting words..watch your mouth..

BTW, I have nothing against Toseland, he is a fantastic rider and anyone that can go toe to toe with bayliss on a one on one gets my respect. Granted, JT will be the first one to tell you that riding against Bayliss has made him into a better rider..he has learned to be more aggressive from the very begining..if you search crash you will see an article which states that "Bayliss put me into moto gp"...JT did WSBK fans proud when he ran with the moto gp guys in the Qatar..he is a great rider and will get better with a factory gp bike. Bayliss is what Rossi is in Moto gp..and what Mladin is in AMA..."YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE MAN TO BE THE MAN"...in WSBK..you're nothing unless you beat Bayliss..

Unhappy to admit it but it looks like the fat lady has sung for Nori now. Bayliss was awesome but tbh it all paled into insignificance compared to an absolutely stonking WSS race. Either way a great days racing and am still hoping for the Nori double at Monza

Nori may get his chance next year after Bayliss has retired.
Avin is not a no nothing - he merely over stated his case. Bayliss is great and is riding great, but he has had a lot of good fortune this year so far. At the start of the year Max was the one to challenge him, but 2 DNF's at PI and a broken wrist have wrecked his challenge. Checa is new to the class, which shows in his lack of pace at the begining of races (similar, but not as bad as Barros - ex-MotoGP syndrome). Also Checas bike had 3 days testing before the season start compared to the 365 of the Ducati. Biaggi and Checa are the only serious challengers to Bayliss, but one is crocked and the other isn't fully up to speed

BTW Son - Edwards won the title in 2002 fair and square - its points that win championships not the number of race wins - presumably you think Scot Russell got lucky in 93 and Merkel was lucky twice! When Edwards got some bike improvements after the Suzuka 8 hour he fought back and Bayliss crumbled from a seemingly unassailable position.
I'd like to see Colin take over from Bayliss at Ducati next year, but I suspect it will be Biaggi, but maybe Shakey Byrne is an outside chance if he wins BSB this year?
Smrz is an excellent rider contrary to what some think on this board - he just had a rubbish bike - a grandad of a bike (four seasons old with no electronics).

I dont see how they can justify Slowing the ducati down with regulation changes, if bayliss wasn,t riding it it would not be leading the championship. Nobody was getting respectable results last year on the 999 except bayliss. I think its fair to say That the rules are as fair as they ever have been Just ducati has the best rider in wsbk at the moment.
Only ducati has a true factory team in wsbk, or should I say invest in wsbk like a factory team.
Its even fairer to say none of the other big hitters in the championship have got there act together in the first 8 races. Bayliss has showed enough times in the past that on a sbk he is the class of the feild.

Suppose they could punish riders for getting to many points, and help out riders that keep crashing.

I only say Colin got lucky because Bayliss would have had a 24 point lead going into the last round. He also crashed in Brands Hatch breaking his ribs but he still managed a 2nd and a 3rd there. What really did him in was that DNF in Assen. In Imola, coming into the 1st race he was 1 point down. Edwards pulled ahead 10 seconds in front but Bayliss caught him! But the race was red flagged and made it mathematically impossible for Bayliss to win even if he did get by Colin. Needless to say, he got by Colin but it wasn't enough because they had given Colin a second gap making him the race winner! Crashing is part of racing so yes, Bayliss did lose the championship fair and square. U need luck 2

So yes, perhaps Bayliss has been lucky himself this year with all his rivals DNF...but when you've been 2 time champ, you get the benefit of the doubt with your consistency. I have nothing against Colin either..again, Colin would be the first to give props to Bayliss as the 2 are good competitors and friends. But come on be serious now, it upsets me when a guy like Rossi or Bayliss can be criticized when they've been so successful..I hate Mladin but I respect his ability. I just wish people would respect TB for the great champion he is and nothing more..20 riders are out there trying to beat him day in and day out! give the man his due, he is the measuring stick for WSBK riders.I own a GSXR

I copied this from soup website, this is what Biaggi had to say:
MAX BIAGGI | Ducati 1098 RS | 10th e 12th classified: "In this week-end we have been unable to improve the performance of the motorbike. We can not explain why we could not reach the levels of the best ones, both in the race and in the qualifying. We must immediately work to reverse the trend before Monza".
I don't think they should change the rules, Bayliss is the difference. I agree with Son.

Son - TB is a world class superbike rider, a warrior, top-bloke and respect to him. I didn't mean any disrespect so if TB reads these posts then sorry Troy. The point I was trying to make is that I don't agree he his dominant on any bike. The motoGP win at Valencia was awesome, I rooted for him all the way. He did good in 2003, mediocre in 2004, disappointing in 2005 on a satellite RCV, a race winning bike. TB is still the man to beat in WSBK but IMO there isn't anyone good enough who can challenge him on a consistent basis. If Edwards, JT and Vermuelan were still there then maybe another outcome, maybe not! Tell yourself whatever you want but JT was the man in 2006. BTW - ur a rude ****

That should of course read JT was the man in 2007.

Avin, I apologize if I was rude. The point is, everyone here has their favorites and Bayliss is obviously mine...I don't go around bashing how bad everyone else's favorite is so I don't take kindly to bashing my guy. When JT was the man in 07 and beat Bayliss..I gave him props even though I didn't like it. The thing is..in 06, JT can say he lost out because of electronics, in 07, Bayliss can say it was an underpowered 999...what we should not argue is how fast and competent both riders are...as you have said..world class. I'm just a supporter of Bayliss and I apologize to all if my passion gets the best of me. He's blue collar and a fighter..how can anyone not respect that??
Posted by Son - Unregistered (220 days ago)

Saying that the Ducati has an advantage is not bashing Bayliss, far from it. The duke gets the same response in motogp. When anybody says it's fast some people automatically think you are saying the rider is no good.. Baylis is a great WSBK rider but that Duk makes it look easy. If you watched the racing you would have seen the acceleration out of the slower corners he was leaving the 4s for dead, he can make a mess of the corner and still come out ahead!!. For me Bayliss has always had the best bike when he has won. His balls out style struggles on a less than dominant bike(last year)..Biaggi has looked quicker and never rode it before but he has his own issues...

How can smrz s bike be 4 yrs old if thr model itself is only 1 yr old? facts, please
Bayliss has a 70 point lead for two reasons. 1)He is probably the fastest rider out there, week in, week out and 2). His rivals keep falling/failing.
Slowing the Ducati down is not justified. If Haga could stay on the bike he would be an awful lot closer to Bayliss now and if Checa hadn't done what he did in Valencia then Bayliss would have a lesser lead. These are all ifs and buts. The fact is Bayliss stays on and, when possible, wins.
