Xerox Ducati will expand to a three-bike entry for a handful of World Superbike rounds following confirmation that 2007 Superstock 1000 FIM Cup Champion Niccolò Canepa has secured some wild-card entries.
Wouldn't Ducati let him enter a couple MotoGP races this year if they were interested in him taking the second seat in '09 instead of being a wild-card in WSB races?

Canepa would be ideal for the Ducati MotoGP team next year. Well used to the bike and with some experience of the world circuit, he would be really fired up and probably put some pressure on Stoner. It would also give Ducati an Italian rider in the team, which is something they always like. The sooner Melandri goes the better (for his sake as much as anything). He clearly cannot handle the bike, loses credibility every race as he comes virtually last whilst Stoner gets podiums ... his confidence is all shot to hell. He needs to get back on a customer Honda again to see if he can re-gain some reputation.

I'm sure World Superbike is more important commercially to Ducati than MotoGP - afterall they sell twins. They are obviously very concerned about how to fill the hole left by Bayliss. With a rider as dominant as Bayliss it has been fine (possibly even helpful) to have under performing second riders like Lanzi and Fabrizio. With Bayliss retiring they have to get two strong riders in the superbike team - Canepa might be the perfect choice for second rider. He meets one of the requirements - he'll be cheap - which will allow plenty of money for a star rider - probably not Colin Edwards as I expect he'll stay at Tech 3, but what about Nicky Hayden?

Chaz Davies must be kicking himself ! I reckon he was a bit short sighted staying in the US.

So Canepa wins the sstock on a bike that shouldnt even have been legal for the series and he s the second coming of christ
But then Edwards, Elías, and all those guys are crap fior not getting on the podium in mgp
So Canepa wins the sstock on a bike that shouldnt even have been legal for the series
still spouting the same rubbish chu chu, the bike is legal, you need to do some homework on why they allow different engine sizes for 4 cylinder.3 cylinder and twins, people with a lot more brains and intelligence than you worked out the rules, and in general they work very well except for the minority of blinkered "experts" who haven't got a clue as to what they are talking about. but before you do that, learn to spell correctly ie:- "shouldnt" the correct spelling is "shouldn't"
testing is a lot different from racing just as SBK is a different ballgame to Moto GP as many good riders have found out.

Wasnt the bike canepa won on only a 1098s? thought they only started using the 1098R this year? I remember watching a few rounds and the yamahas were much faster but the riders kept falling off so its harsh to start saying he only won because of the Ducati (as certain people usually do regardless of who is on one)
