Xerox Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi has revealed he is chasing either Chris Vermeulen, Max Biaggi or Shane Byrne to replace Troy Bayliss in the team next season.
If GSE move over to WSBK i think Byrne will stay there, i think we may see Biaggi at Xerox for 2009... hard to call either way its got to be the most desired ride on the grid at the moment! also Haga may be requiring a new team mate!

to lure vermeulen from motogp they would have to pay very high, realistically that just wont happen. Biaggi is italian, and fits in with elitist ducati but wont win the title if he goes. Its not like his sterilgarda bike isnt factory either. personally i dont even like byrne much! even if he is from kent. Also its worth pointing out, that nicola canepa, regardless of how fast he can ride by himself testing, did not impress in Brno in his first real competitive situation.
ducati are desperate.

Please not Biaggi! If he is the frontrunner then I think Troy might stay rather than see his ride go to Max.
Vermuelen would be a very good shout... not very likely unfortunately.

Did anyone else notice the ducati-aussie pattern? In MotoGP - Stoner: in WSBK - Bayliss, and now they want Vermulen. Since Vermulen is not likely to go, maybe they will get Ant West! LOL!!!

Vermu stays at suzuki, shakey to wsb = fabrizio's bike and biaggi to melandi's bike. there's enough time for shakey to get to motogp not so much for biaggi and i would like to see the vale-biaggi-stoner-punch up! and possibley run a third bike for gibbers aswell, jesus three convicts on ducatis and vale......

Just another sign of how much talent there is around. Biaggi makes a lot of sense. Hopefully Vermeulen will keep that spot at Suzuki. But besides Byrne (who indeed should stick with GSE if they come over) there are a few other riders that have shown success with Ducati in Hodgeson, Haslam and Lavilla. They are having a bit of a rough time with Japanese bikes (not unusual e.x. Bayliss and Xaus in MotoGP) and could hopefully be looked at for the Xerox ride or at least under consideration for the Sterilgarda slots that will be left open. It would be interesting to see Canepa ride on that team or maybe even in BSB if GSE stays there to add a little international flair.

Any sauce for that chip on your shoulder Gaz?! hehe i think he was just having a joke about! lighten up!... and back to the topic lads!
Personally, I'd like to see Biaggi get the ride, purely because he's a nutter and great entertainment value. For me, he's one of those riders who is brilliant to watch, whether you like him or not. Vermuelen is doing well in motogp, it would be a waste of his talents to go back to wsbk. Shakey, I just don't rate him that highly even though he's doing well this season. He clearly likes the duke though, so who knows.
Finally, I must say that it will be a sad day when Mr Bayliss steps off his bike for the final time. What a class act he is - a great rider, a great racer, a great champion and a great bloke. He could teach Mr Stoner a few things.

Problem with Biaggi is his whole Motogp and Superbike career is he'll have weekends where he is unbeatable and others where he is total pants ( if the bike is not 100% ) Shakey would be good, still has hunger and is a few ( not many but a few ) years younger.
Some people obviously cannot see the that I put on my post....:(
....I have a life and a sense of humour thanks Rico and a great ones at that.

...and I agree with you Tim Bo. The problem with Max is that there will be weekends where he is slightly off the pace but as has been said, he is great to watch, an entertainer and in the twighlight of his career now so it would be great to see him get another factory ride.
