Max Biaggi claims to have the backing of Troy Bayliss to replace the retiring double world champion at Ducati Xerox for 2009, but admits he's had little direct contact with the factory itself.
Good on ya Max. You have proven to be competitive in WSB and deserve a good factory ride. You have shown respect for all other WSB contenders so back off all the Mrs Doubtfires.

max has earned a factory seat. he's put his satellite bike on the podium numerous times, and if not for breaking his wrist he could have been in championship contention. good luck to max. i hope he gets the ride

I have long been a fan of The Roman.......since his 250 days, but Ducati must know that they have NEVER done well with Italian pilots.............now MUST be time for Borgo Panigale to give Shakey a chance to show just what he can do with the factory bike...........after all, he has virtually anihillated the opposition in BSB this year....!

Well I hope Max has offers from Moto Gp where he belongs up against the likes of Rossi He Needs a factory bike Lets face it if I had a Ride going in Moto GP Looking for someone to have a go at the title would I give it to West-Haydon-Lorris Looks like a waste of money. There are not enough World class riders in Moto Gp who can do what Max can do.

I'd rather someone younger and more hungry got the ride, Max has had so many chances on top machinery in 500's / MOTOGP yet would never mount a full season long challenge. Shades of Luca Cadalora, when the bike is perfect he is the fastest man on two wheels but when it isn't he's way down the field, he cannot ride round a problem and still perform like the greats could/can.
While I would like to see shakey get a factory Ducati ride, Max has got to be the best option to replace Bayliss next year, he is without doubt one of the best top ten riders in the world and watching how he is riding now he is still hungry for another world championship.

I really hope that Max gets the Xerox ride as he deserves a shot at the title and you can only do that on a factory bike....just look at what he did in his debut year on the Suzuki in 07!, only just lost the title!
Max is a hard person to work with but that is only because he demands such high standards from himself, hence why he had so much trouble in GP's when he wasn't performing too well. However, he seems to be a different person in WSBK and I hope that Ducati see sence and give the ride to Max. He CAN be world champion, he knows it and so do his fans.
C'mon Max - we love ya!

Agreed, he's looked to have 'full season motivation' issues in the past, but maybe riding for Team Ducati is the answer. They're not going to let him hang his head or whine about things. As others have said, good on him for not letting his reputation precede him in WSBK: he's not shown any hint of the prima donna stuff that must have been a huge burden for him in MotoGP, as it's long been reported he's a bit of a sensitive sort. I'm sure it's not easy for a professional athlete to swallow your pride, rebuild your career, AND reinvent your persona, and he's done that while still getting the results on the track.
Fingers crossed for you, Max.

Max is done in GP - he's burned all of his bridges there. And in case you forgot, Hayden actually won the MotoGP Championship - something Max has never and will never do. Thank you very much.

Personally i think Shakey should get the ride. Hes young and hes kicking butt in BSB just like Kiro so he should be the heir apparent. Besides Max had his chance with a factory team when he stole Corsers spot with Alstare. Then he jumped ship because the money. The man has no loyalty and he not a team player. Hes had his day in the sun its time for some new talent to pickup the reigns.
Raw Dawg - bravo to u dude. Your right Max is toast in GP's and Nicky DID to something the roman emperor never did and that beat Rossi and win the MotoGP WC.

Ducman1098R, just goes to show how much you know doesn't it mate!
Max never left Suzuki because of money and that is the truth. Max wanted to put some of his personal sponsors on the bike and Suzuki would not let him. Also, he hardly asked for any more money for 2008 and in fact is getting paid less this year! I am pretty sure that he would have taken a factory Suzuki ride over a customer Ducrapi!
Also, in reference to your MotoGP comments, Max spent nearly all 2005 developing the 2006 RCV for Hayden to win the title on! Whenever Max asked Honda for anything, they always said no and when he found something that made him go faster, they would not let Max use it! The fukkers.

My money's on Laconi to get that ride, Tardozzi looked like someone had taken a massive dump on his lawn when Laconi lost out to JT in 2004, Or am i just being paranoid?

Hi Gaz I am afraid Max did leave Suzuki because of money which had been topped up by the organisers last year. He wanted a whole heap more for 2008 and thought Alstare had no other option. After he burned that particular bridge Francis Batta did not want him back - he had to accept less with Borciani's team. Again paid for by the organisers. They have a huge amount of pressure (and money...) to find Max a factory ride in 2009. Which he will get...

Hi LJC First of all, max dident leave suzuki just because of money, it was a numberous of reasons. Suzuki wasnt going to get the same factory support for 2008, the loss of alstares main sponsor corona, personal sponsors, money ofcorse and that he thought he might get to race for Honda Gresini in Motogp. Witch if you remeber HRC Kusuke something something stopped, but that was after the split with alstare.
If someone deserves a factory ride its max.

To say that Max developed the RCV for Hayden is laughable. Rossi developed that bike and won the title in 2002 and 2003 - long before Max swung a leg over the Repsol bike. How did Max develop a bike in 2005 for Hayden yet Hayden had been riding it since 2003? And I seriously doubt that Hayden could even ride a bike with Max's setup. Max has the 250 front end style of riding while Hayden is more of a rear steer dirt track style rider.

Oh, Max.. He really deserves a title soon. He started in GP on a yamaha, then moved on to Pons Honda where he did really good (and looked cool too) then on the Repsol Honda he did not do as well. Always beeing beaten by Valentino. Now his GP days is over, there is no going back, it's too late. Max is no longer a kid with many opportunity-years left, He DESERVES a WSBK #1 in the conclusion of next season!!!! poor Max : )
