Bayliss denies Sykes Donington glory.

Troy Bayliss has won the first World Superbike race of the weekend at Donington Park after an event fraught with action, controversy and ill-temper.

Sykes did a fantastic job and should be very proud of his performance.Did anyone see his pit garage ?,my garden sheds bigger than that !.Rizla Suzuki have done an amazing job in putting a bike that good underneath him.Haslam also rode very well but was just plain unlucky, nothing more he could have done.Bayliss though, was just amazing. He's going to retire completely at the top of his game and as a great 3 time WSBK champion.I'm gonna miss him,he's a legend .

Haha, I didn't get to see the garages. I heard the commentators say they had a tough job cramming all the teams into pit lane though. Must have sucked in the rain and all. Those Brits should get some good weather Isn't it supposed to be early autumn?, perfect time of year for riding?

I also missed the Xaus/Biaggi tiff, did anyone else catch what happened? I heard Xaus threw a towel at him or something? Hilarious

Tom Sykes wasn't confused by the flags down Craner Curves at all....we were sat right there and there was a waved yellow as well as the white with the red cross for Fabrizio's accident, but Baylis overtook regardless....he should have either dropped back behind Tom or been penalised.
The marshalls on Craner Curves reported Baylis but it would appear that they have been ignored...I'm surprised Rizla didn't protest but they probably don't want to rock the boat, Tom proved how good he is anyway....

Spot on PP916, nice to see Ducati mafia alive & well still.I was stood at Craner when this happened, i've been watching racing for 30 yrs & it was the most blatant overtake under a yellow flag i've ever seen, better than that serial offender Rossi

pp916 during his Eurosport interview Sykes said he misread the sign so I presume he did. I didn't know about the yellow flags as that wasn't reported, Either way he and Haslam lost a couple of seconds and their race rythmn beause of that incident. I agree Bayliss should have been penalised. I also agree with Neil Spalding that it is high time that the FIM standardised the flag signals across all categories.

PP916, you are correct they were waving yellows as well, no overtaking allowed. Tom was just being a nice guy when he said he misunderstood, the white flag with red diagonals that was also being waved. Maybe he did misunderstand and should have known better but it does not condone Baylis overtaking under a yellow.
I was at Craner too and they were quite clearly waving both flags at the 3 marshalls post I could see.
You have to wonder is there a God up there putting some things right when Bayliss slide down the track in race 2
