Bayliss: I almost re-signed with Ducati.

Bayliss: I almost re-signed with Ducati.

Troy Bayliss has admitted he came very close to re-signing with Ducati Xerox for another season a couple of months ago, but insists he will definitely hang up his helmet at the end of this season.

Thank God he decided not to re-sign !!!!
Give some b****r else the chance to win for a change!!!

would have been good if he resigned long term as superbike without bayliss is like curry without rice. however resigning for just one year i feel would be pointless. Go out as number one troy and cheers for the memories you will be missed. You and your right little finger

A f*&£$%" legend whose statistics will be difficult to improve upon. Next years riders will never have it easier without him on the grid. I know nobody is bigger than the sport itself but as the article states Troy Bayliss will leave a massive void that will take some filling.

You live in the past munchers. His boots will be filled and after one season he won't be mentioned unless someone beats one of his lap times. It's sad but true and all going well Troy will leave with his health intact. It's how violent he turns when fuelled with drink screaming abuse at anyone who dares say the new crop are better while he tries pole dancing and headbutts a security guy in the face!
My money on Mick out-drinking and out-fighting him!

Troy is a hero man, I could not think of a better ambassador for bike racing! He is the nicest guy you could ever meet and always makes time for fans and spectators. I wish him well for the future and hope he still plays a part in bikes for years to come even if it's not on the track. It's a pity Carl Fogarty is not the gentleman Troy is, maybe Carl would have got that BBC Sports personality of the Year if he was!!

I for one, hope Troy will stay in racing in some capacity. In the background, bringing on new young riders.

Better still, get rid of failed MotoGP Ducati test rider Seté Gibber-nuts and give the job to Troy.

Its was a great shame for Troy to leave MotoGP, now he leaving racing all together is sad year.

I'm sure 2008 will NOT be the last time we hear of Troy Bayliss.

Troy Bayliss is the hero, nr.1, a real racer, a real sportsman, a real lion heart, the best out or on the track!! Nobody is even close to be what Troy Bayliss is, the real KING!!

Not only is he a great rider and as hard as nails but a great, down to earth bloke. Fantastic to watch and very hard to beat. I can understand why he's quitting now but I doubt I'm the only one who thinks he'll be massively missed. In short, an absolute legend. Oh and I agree with Gavin's foggy comment!

Feral, the reference to the pole dancing is a jibe at what Mick Doohan got upto recently, when fueled with drink at a strip joint, he tried taking his clothes off and headbutted a doorman!
It's not how good you were at the game, it's how well you adapt when people dont ask for your autograph and all you have left is your health and your loot. Some fall apart..

A true great and one of my favorite riders for his grit, hard riding, and never quit attitude. Glad to see him go out a Champion. I'm sure other WSB riders will be glad to see him leave as now it will be a bit easier. As fans it will be more competitive. But I'll still miss Ol'21 out there on the red Duc. Have a great retirement Troy. Thanks for the memories of the fights he's had with Edwards and others. Good stuff.

Troy is awesome, totally dominates the class - yet is a nice bloke.

He had more MotoGP wins in 2006 than Nicky Hayden
(Seriously).

What a record.

WTF are you on about ? You dont have a clue do you?

Nicky won at Assen & Laguna. That's 2.

Troy won at Valencia. Thats 1.

You are a C.F.W.

Dollop

Everybody spotted the 'so subtle' analogy with Doohan.

The reality is Doohan's a pretty good rider who made up the difference by being as hard as nails and about as sensitive.

Bayliss is a far more talented rider, much wiser and a thoroughly decent bloke who people don't just respect, they like him - a *lot*.

Which is mostly why they think you're something that rhymes with grunt but won't get past the spell check :-)
