Sykes to replace Haga at Yamaha?

Growing rumours suggest that Rizla Suzuki's BSB star Tom Sykes will replace Noriyuki Haga at Yamaha Italia for the 2009 World Superbike Championship.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YES!!!!! (Said Churchill!)

What a top result for Tom and us brits! Propper job!!!

Well thats 3 bikes (manafacturers) in 3 years not bad!! I used to like Sykes but recently IMOP he has become slightly arrogant (the classic was at cadwell where he said Haslam followed him and copied his lines to win!!!) Haslam who has won at Cadwel for the last 3 ye***** I think not.

But he is a good rider no doubt but to develop a new 'Uneven' firing R1??? He may struggle.. Yamaha will need Corser for sure as he is probably one of the best development riders on the grid bar none!!

I think it would be brilliant if Sykes could partner Corser at Yamaha. He needs a year to lean the tracks and needs to be in one of the top teams for a realistic world title challenge in 2 or 3 years. He was a class act at Donington.Hope this is a true as Yorkshire needs another WSB Champion to follow on from JT !

Sykes and Corser would make an excellent pairing. I also think Syks riding style and setup should be closer to Corsers than Hagas was. I hope this rumour is true!

Sykes arrogant?? Haha. That's like saying Rossi is an introvert!

Can't wait to see The Grinner every round racing against the best in the world. You can tell by the body language between him and Bayliss at Donington that Troy was impressed by Tom's riding and showed him plenty of respect.

Sykes, Rea and Crutchlow (if the rumours are to be believed) in the world paddock next season. I can't wait!

Darkwaknight... Sykes arrogant? Have you ever seen him interviewed? He's one of the nicest guys out there with a totally appealing chin-grin! ALWAYS smiling! Bruce Forsyth would be proud... Go Sykes... I'll be cheering ya!

Plus he's a Yorkshireman, so he's bound to be fast!

With such a charming personality and a determined will to win, i wish Tom all the luck in his move to Team Yamaha. Everyone who takes part in any major sport wants to be the best, this is his way to the top. Such a meteoric rise through the ranks of BSS and BSB and now onto WSB shows that the Lad has got that determination and i for one will follow his career with avid interest!! Who knows, he could be joining Toseland on the MotoGP stage in a couple of years? Good Luck Tom, Keep smiling!
