Schumacher tests with Ten Kate Honda.

Schumacher tests with Ten Kate Honda.

Michael Schumacher's two-wheel apprenticeship continued to gather pace this week after he was allowed to test with the Ten Kate Honda World Superbike team in France.

Was never a fan of Schumi in F1 but to be 4 seconds off the pace is stunning!

Well done indeed.

Yes its a quick time, but i wonder how many laps he has done on the German superbike he's been racing this year.

Not forgeting the laps he did on the Ducati Gp bike.

Like i said, it is a quick time, but he's not exactly a novice anymore.

Yes, Schumacher isn't a complete novice. He participated in some category of German racing, took lessons from Mamola, etc.

He could be labelled "novice motorcycle racer" but not novice track rider.

SO WHAT, theres plenty of club/cup riders out there who can match his time but you don't so them getting top publicity, and there on inferior machines!!!

Let Schumi enjoy himself on bikes. It brings more attention to our loved sport and hopefully more people would watch it and become fans.

this summer in Brno he did a 2.05 Laptime, no other driver could follow him during the week, but he has so much money and can do what he wants

Let's put Schumi's time into perspective. 4 seconds off the pace is absolutely amazing considering his first time out on this bike. Sure he has been riding/racing this season in club and German SuperBike races, however, he IS still a novice at racing not having spent years racing on two wheels. With more track time and guidance i'm sure his lap times would reduce even further. Hat off to Schumi i say.....

I've never seen a wallet that made a bike go fast!! The money may buy you a better bike, but the talent can't be bought.

back when shumi did that stunning lap time on a ducati motogp bike, colin edwards explained how it was possible. colin said, if you just keep the traction control on all the time, you can be able to run 4 to 5 secs off the pace. then he went on to suggest that blisteringly fast lap times on a modern racing bike depend on how long the rider can keep the traction control off in a given lap.

Spot on alfie... I remember Colin saying that.

Nothing against Shumacher, as I would love the opportunities hes has, but there are plenty of guys at a similar level of experience who could get out on that bike and ride that fast...

Thing is, sure a ton of people could go that fast (not including me), but none of those people can drive a car as fast as shumi.

that's what makes this so cool imho. that and the fact that he's going car->bike, instead of bike->car as we normally see people do.

You also have to hope that he didn't push as hard as he could given that ten Kate NEEDS the bike for the next race!

Those club racers don't have 7 world titles either.

Surely his poor ol' wife can't be happy with his new hobby! LOL! I bet she is giving him grief for spending so much time on bikes after a highly dangerous career.
