WSS: Rea shrugs off 'racing incident'.

WSS: Rea shrugs off 'racing incident'.

Jonathan Rea was in a phlegmatic mood despite seeing his World Supersport title hopes end when he was innocently brought down in a collision between himself and Robbin Harms.

Good on you lads. You should give some of the moaning/winging boys in MotoGP a few lessons on sportsmanship and Racing.

He must have been disappointed to be left a little helpless regarding the championship outcome through no fault of his own, but thats racing so top effort for looking at it that way.

Cant wait to see Jonny in WSBK in 09! looks like a good season for the brits in there! its a shame they wont get the chance to race bayliss... would be great to see them race against someone of his class. I suppose they still have Nori!!!

I think Cal will go well in world supersport also, if Pitt continues with his for of this season then he will be tough to beat again.

Also nice to hear given that Pitt was interviewed on Eurosport, still blaming Laverty for the previous races incident and even alluded to the fact that Rea and him were buddies and that Laverty probably owed Johnny a drink now. Pitt is also spitting feathers about not getting a WSB berth too. He's got a right attitude and i'm wondering if thats why teams are not looking at him?
As for Rea, just the sort of comment you expect from this lad, i've never met him but some pals have and by accounts he's one of the nicest lads going. Good luck for next year, it's shaping up to be a doozie. Out of the new boys in WSB i expect him to be the leader on points as he knows the tracks..unlike Sykes et al

Strong rumour in the pits at Phillip Island that Westy has been talking with Stiggy re supersport. Could Harms have harmed himself?

What a pro Rae is. Compare that to Dovizioso whinging about JT's hard riding or, as Cubik mentions, Pitt's bleating about Laverty.

Talking of Pitt, it would have been nice if he had paid a small tribute to Craig Jones in the post race interview. I'm not blaming Pitt for the incident, but it might have shown a bit of humanity to mention it.

Hmmm, that's a bit of a sore subject still I'd imagine. That's one of those things that has to be done personally maybe. I'm sure he feels that way though, even if he didn't say it.

Have to admit though, the difference between Pitt and Rea's quotes are very interesting. It was like Pitt was saying Rea being brought down was the luck he deserved to win the title, so he doesn't come across well to me. Maybe he meant it in jest, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, although I don't know how friendly the two are.

Boo, i saw the interview with Pitt, he didn't come across well even if he does feel a bit hard done by at not getting a WSB ride despite taking the championship (he has a point on that front tbh). The comment's were not in jest from what i saw.

Jonathan comes from a long long list of Ulster's great riders which have always shown fantastic courage and the will to win,,, to which they are always gracious in defeat.
As for next years WSB ride,, my head said that this should have happened last year, but my heart say's, well done Ten Kate,,,,, WSS was the ideal way to let Jonathan get to learn the circuits before letting him louse on the BIG BIRDS.
May I wish him all the very for Portugal and as always,,proud to follow a fellow Ulsterman across the globe.

Top marks to both Rae and Harms (yes really) for one taking it really well when he was
knocked out of a Championship battle and two for Harms to be man enough to admit his
mistake and apologise to him. True sportsmanship from both riders.

How many times this season alone have we seen riders (who shall remain nameless) harping on about maneuvers and clashes and not taking blame or merely glossing over
where they shouldn't?
Fair play to them both...

Sounded to me like Pitt was whinging

At the end of the day, Pitt still won the title after Laverty took him off, Rea didnt when he was off'ed by Harms.

Rea lets it go, Pitt whinges... go figure

Very professional of Rea to make such comments and a real shame for him as he is a great rider and nice guy. As for the comments on Pitty - he's a really nice guy, good friends with Rea - even spent the time to teach Rea how to read the tracks that were new to him. There is no way he would ever believe Rea deserved to be taken out in that race or any. Rea did get the WSB ride for next year, Pitty is still on the WSS ride - there has been nothing indicating he is upset with Rea about that or even that he is bitter about it. So all you complainers, try putting yourself in their situations for even a minute and congratulation them both on a good year with ups & downs for both. Go Pitt & Rea 09

I have to say, after meeting Andrew Pitt last year he seems a genuinely good bloke.
I know what he said in the interview but I still think he's a good guy, he's just a
racer afterall! hehehe! =

At the end of the day Rea knows he is going to SBK next year. Obviously he didn't want a year wasted by someone taking him out, but defeat sure tastes better when you know you have a SBK contract in the bag! I like him though, he seems like a nice guy and most would still have spat feathers about being taken out of a championship like that.

As for Pitty, he must feel hard done by about the SBK ride. He's not old by any stretch of the imagination but got ousted by a younger guy with possibly more potential at this point. I can see why he'd be sour about it!
