WSS: Sofuoglu scores pole on return.

Kenan Sofuoglu marked his return to Supersport competition with a bang by sweeping to pole position for the season ending round at Portimao, Portugal.

Kenan,

You are the king of WSS but what a pity you will spend one more year here!...You should change your direction maybe MotoGP could be suitable for you because of weight similarity.

Anyway good luck and wish to see you as champion again!...

bulent, weight alone does not decide how a rider would possibly do on another class. kenan always said he had difficulties in controlling the bike's power. simple as that. if you cannot properly control a tuned up stock-bike then you cannot control a motogp bike, which is a much more powerful animal.

Alfie North,

I agree on your comment but his problem is not only controlling power (sometimes he tops the speed among fellows in wsbk)he had also some disadvantages to ride the bike caused by weight? On the other hand Rea surprised me today by his position but it' s not easy to explain his achievement so by this reason, power should effect him? Kenan probably could ride MotoGP class because of small or similar size and less weight. I' m not sure he is afraid of topping or controlling speed?

I would think his problem is set up and adjusting to riding the superbike as it requires a differant style to supersport... the weight and size shouldn't be an issue for any bike rider.

The WSS is high corner speed class like 250 and 800 MotoGP. WSB is more point and squirt like the old 990's so Bulent may have a point re Kenan, but for style reasons rather than weight. Kenan's best career move is to dominate WSS until he can take a top ride in the new 600 GP class.

"Kenan Sofuoglu grabs Supersport pole with a lap that would put him ahead of ex-team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari on the Superbike grid."

That speaks for itself alone I think (though you could argue that the track conditions improved after SBK quali).

Shrieker,

Right.
