Astonishing. How can the old guy be 1.5 seconds quicker than the next rider? Great job by the Brits to have 3 in the top 6 too. Can anybody deny their right to be there based on performances like that, especially that of Jonathan Rea? The BSB boys have been riding their bikes all year: this is his first race on it.

Ian it was a very wet track only Xaus and Fabrizio went out early on and set times, then the rain eased a bit when Bayliss went out and set his quick time then the rain came back throughout the session until it was almost unrideable, rivers everywhere. Only Checa who did about 6-7 laps at the end mananaged to move up from 16th to 11th. The first 7 places were all set during the better conditions, although the conditions were never good.

A very well done to all riders in them conditions has Cal Crutchlow got a world super bike engine in for this weekend?. Looking good for Jonathan Rea been my top man for a number of years now he will win races next year .Bayliss well know suprise there but i do think his timing was spot on, and he will ride out ofhis skin tomorrow got to finish his time with a win .

Slow Joe - Crutchlow and Haslam have WSB spec motors - they also tested at the track with Xerox Ducati and the Parkalgar WSS team. During the test Haslam did a a 1.46 and Bayliss did a 1.45 - so this difference in the times shows just how wet it was this afternoon.
