Bayliss: The final curtain falls.

Troy Bayliss has hailed the bike that took him to the 52nd and final World Superbike win as ‘the best' he has ridden throughout what has been an outstanding career.

Goodbye to The Man.
It will be a long time before we see his like again.
Thanks for the memories mate!

At last, finally, we can all get back to some normality and shut up about Bayliss this Bayliss that, it's gone on for far too long. He's not the saviour of WSN so why all the hype. Big deal, he's retired, so do a lot of riders each year.........And lets be honest, when the rules weren't stacked in his favour i.e. last year, he was no where.....Toseland kicked his ass.

Not as successful as mr fogarty but he was a lot more popular. Will be missed for the never say die attitude. Great that he has chosen to leave at the top. Ducati will be at a loss without him. All the best for a long and happy retirement Troy.

SmutMonkey..... you are a silly boy.

If the rules were stacked in Troys favour then the rest of the Ducatis would be filling the top places in the championship standings.

Your homework is finding out is the next best placed Ducati rider in the final standings.

SmutMonkey.....the name says it all !!!

As per DFH, facts should be gathered and comments made from an informed position
An oldie but a goodie is "it is better to be thought an idiot than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt"
I have personally seen Troy race a number of times with equipment that was frankly not competitive, he still gave it his best shot and never dissapointed his fans as he always recognised thir support. He was as gracious in defeat as he was in victory
Now that is a true sportsman who got to the top with true grit & determination
Everything Troy got he worked damned hard for.
Troy, goodbye, goodluck and thanks for the memories........

SmutMonkey - please grow up and give Bayliss the respect he deserves - he's up there along with Foggy as one of the great racers in WSB. Please could you join the Motogp kindergarten forum where Rossi and Stoner spend their times calling each other silly names - and leave this forum to people who appreciate talent when they see it.

PS I would like to see Colin Edwards back in WSB - pity Bayless wont be there

Bye Bye Bayliss, thank you for all the years of racing

If you see him like this you can't help but thinking he could have easily won another title next year,
no one really comes near him in WSBK.

It says a lot about the class of Bayliss that someone like smutmonkey says 'Bayliss was nowhere'- just because he didn't win the title.

Bayliss was an exceptional SBK competitor and is an exceptional person. No matter what, SBK is poorer without him.

I have followed Troy since his Superbike days here in Australia. What can I say about the man. A car spray painter from a small town on the north coast of NSW doing it tough with a young family, who took a huge risk too become a 3 times WSBK world champion and a MotoGP race winner all in his 30's. A real sportsman with no huge ego, a real role model to kids and adults alike on what being a sportsman is all about.

My sporting idol has now retired and the WSBK paddock will not be the same.

Thanks for the memories Troy, I still have dozens of DVD's to go back an watch.

You have replaced Patrick Rafter as the best Aussie Sportsman in so many years.

Please don't bring Stoner into this either.

When you put it like that Kwaka, Australia produces many talented riders especially considering the Australian championship is so badly run with stuff all prize money.

More to come next year hopefully.

What a legend Troy is, never seen a rider give as much as him and also remain so grounded.

And what a circuit Portimao is! If Brands is off the calendar next year, I think we have a circuit to replace it.

One of the truly great Australian sportsman that will sadly never get the recognition he deserves in his home country I feel. A quick glance over some of the Oz sport websites front pages this morning and there's scant mention of him.

Great stuff Troy, you're name belongs right up there next to, not below, the Gardner's and Doohan's. A 1 in 3 win record in WSBK is just insane. A total legend in every sense of the word, on the track and off it and motorcycling is a little bit less without him on the track. Very few people, in any sport, get to go out on top like that. Pole and 2 wins, plus the title in your last year in SBK and winning your last MotoGP race as well let's not forget!
