Lavilla to race Pro Ride Honda in 2009.

Gregorio Lavilla will remain in the World Superbike Championship next season after confirming he will compete for the re-launched Pro Ride Honda team in 2009.

This guy deserves better, before people go about him being past it remember a lot riders bloom late, Lavilla is at the top of his game now. I think had he got the 1098 in BSB shakey would not have matched him.

Paul Bird and Kawasaki deserve each other!!! (that's not a compliment)

Lavilla is a class act and a talented rider. Top privateer this season with a strong points score in the second half of the season. With the Pro Ride Honda team focussed soley on Lavilla next season, i'm sure he will again be top privateer, embarrasing a few factory backed teams (Kwak and Birdy) for one! I certainly wish him luck and remember, his bike will not be factory backed, but i bet he'll have numerous top ten finishes.

Good to see Greg quickly get picked up by anohter
team for '09. I'm not sure why he is considered the
top 'provateer' since Sterilgarda Go Eleven ran RS08
'spec' bikes with Biaggi & Xaus in '08. Anyway, I
hope the new re-org'd Pro RIde Team has thier bikes up
to full 'Satellite' Spec from Race 1 unlike the Paul
Byrd team of '08 for Lavilla.

I personally think Lavilla is on a downward spiral. I think he peaked in BSB after somehow keeping his rides on the ZX7RR in WSB for no apparent reason. If he had moved up, on a Ducati, when he was full off confidence off his BSB Championship, then he may have done some good. But confidence is hard to come by.

Lavilla is a world class rider who deserves a factory bike. He was beating Byrne,Haslam,Sykes & Cruchlow when he was on the Airwaves Ducati. When was the last time PBM kept a rider for more than one season?

He definitely will have two bikes because of the flag-to-flag regulation.

Joe,

you should get your facts right if your going to slag off Lavilla. He moved to Alstare Suzuki after Kawasaki and had a year on an uncompetitive 750, followed by a strong year on the GSXR1000 as one rider team with a new bike which was also restricted as it was the first year of the 1000cc 4's. He then unfortunately lost the ride and became a Suzuki Moto GP test rider as Suzki pulled out of WSB due to the switch to Pirelli tyre.

He has proved that he can ride any bike and learn circuits quickly as not even Bayliss won the BSB championship at his first attempt. To say that he is on downward spiral is crazy - he has far outperformed Walker since he was drafted in at brands.

Lavilla is a great rider and as others have said he deserves better, remember he kicked Haslam's ass in bsb (same team & bike) so i reckon that he would be as quick as the others if he had the hanspree fireblade. we can assume haslams season will be better than lavillas but it wouldnt be if lavilla had the same bike (big injustice)

Dont knock him hes had a bad year with not a very good team manager perhaps if paul bird treated him better and listened to him he would have done better he is just as capable as any of the other riders,he gets my backing 100%.

Go Gregie! Would have loved him back in BSB but don't blame him for going with WSB. He's a great rider that gets some s.h.i.t. bikes and deserves better. 100% behind him, which with any luck is where all the other bikes will be next year!
