Reigning World Champion
James Toseland has praised the efforts of fellow Brit Neil Hodgson who took second place at his first AMA Superbike race in the USA recently.
Hodgson, also a previous WSBK champ in 2003, moved to the States to compete in the AMA SBK championship after a poor year in 2004 at the reigns of a privately entered Ducati V-4 in the
MotoGP championship with D'Antin.
Crash.net caught up with Toseland at a recent British Superbike test to see what he thought of Hodgson's second place.
“I'm actually here to do some promotional work,” commented James on his presence at the BSB test. “I was very chuffed for him, he had a difficult season last year. I think every rider has been through a year like that and it is difficult to pick yourself up again, but he has done. A second place in AMA Superbike in his first race at
Daytona was a fantastic effort.
“I sent him a text as soon as he crossed the line but I haven't had a reply yet, but that's just Neil. Especially with his new American phone, it would be far too expensive to text me, you know what those Burnley lads are like!” quipped James.
Toseland and the rest of the WSBK grid will be in action again in Philip Island for the second round of the championship on 3rd April.
