The yellow PSG-1 Kawasaki of Chris Walker has remained in provisional pole after second qualifying for the seventh round of the Alstare Corona Extra World Superbike Championship at Brno in the Czech Republic.
Walker was stunned on Friday to take provisional pole, but no-one was able to better his time in the second session and he will now head into Superpole with the top time.
"I don't think I've ever been provisional pole at World Super bikes," exclaimed Walker. "It's all new to me now!"
The PSG-1 Kawaski team tested at Brno which had definitely given 'The Stalker' a bit of an edge although he admitted that provisional pole hadn't been expected.
"It wasn't part of the plan!" he added. "It's good for the team to have provisional pole, I'm a bit nervous now."
Second fastest was Alstare Corona Extra's
Troy Corser, who bettered his time from Friday but wasn't able to out do the hard charging Brit. Corser did the double at Brno back in 1996 when Superbikes last raced here, and then went on to take the World title, something it looks like he could do the same again this year. Team-mate
Yukio Kagayama finished second qualifying in seventh place - Brno is completely new to Kagayama who was finding the five kilometre long circuit difficult to learn.
Third fastest was Max Neukirchner, the German rider one of those with strong knowledge of the circuit having raced here in the German Junior Cup and in the National 125 Championship too. His team-mate Franki Chili wasn't having such good luck, he crashed out early in qualifying and finally ended the session in seventeenth which means he won't go forward to Superpole.
