The Winston Ten Kate duo
Chris Vermeulen and
Karl Muggeridge were fourth and sixth respectively, considering neither had prior knowledge of the circuit that is a good qualifying result. Splitting the two Honda's is another Aussie, Andrew Pitt, his Yamaha Italia team tested here and Pitt now seem to be reaping the rewards of the hard work put in during that test. His team mate Haga wasn't having such a good, he qualified in eighteenth and therefore isn't in Superpole.
The Petronas team have managed to get one rider into Superpole and that is former GP star Garry McCoy. McCoy has raced here many times in the past and he pipped Chili to sixteenth place. Steve Martin missed out on Superpole, with Jack Valentine saying that the could use a bit more horse power at this circuit to help with the hill section of the track, while also quashing rumours of a change to Honda machinery for next season.
Two other fallers during qualifying were Renegade Koji Honda's Ben Bostrom and Jose Luis Cardoso on board the DFXtreme Yamaha. It looked like they got tangled up with one another but there were no hard feelings as both riders walked away together chatting and patting each other on the back.
