Lorenzo Lanzi has put in a sterling performance at the Eurospeedway in Germany, by beating all the usual front runners to pole position. He is deputising for the injured
Regis Laconi, riding his factory Xerox Ducati - this really is his chance to shine.
He admitted exclusively to
Crash.net that he hopes to be with the Xerox Ducati squad next season. "For sure hopefully I'll be with this team but nothing is decided yet but we will see," said Lanzi, however no decisions will be made on the future of the World Superbike team until Ducati's riders in Moto GP have been selected.
"I am very happy," beamed Lanzi. "This bike, I really like this bike a lot, I am so happy about it as it is my first pole position in Superbike. I did it with the new bike and the Italian team, I couldn't ask for more." His impressive form will have definitely put him in the picture for a future ride with the team.
It has been a dream weekend for Lanzi who is from Bologna the home of Ducati, "It is the dream of every rider, Italian riders above all, I am on the bike now and it is a dream come true," he said.
