Splitting the red Ducatis is Alstare Corona Extra Suzuki rider Troy Corser who is leading the championship and wants to try and wrap it up this weekend, however he might have a difficult time doing that with Vermeulen setting such a fast pace. Corser also had a little off at the end of free practice two as he tells us, "We were concentrating on race tyres and I did race distance then put in a qualifier at the end of the session. We only had time to change the rear and not the front. I lost the front going into turn one, so on my Superpole lap I was a bit cautious into turn one and it was enough to not get pole."
The man who made most progress in Superpole and was very impressive was Ben Bostrom on the renegade Koji Honda. He qualified in sixteenth place just making Superpole and then went out and posted a 1min 49.300secs which moved him up to eighth place and second row of the grid.
