After following
James Toseland out of the Xerox Ducati team at the end of the 2005 World Superbike Championship season, Frenchman
Regis Laconi made his debut with the PSG-1 Kawasaki outfit during the Pirelli tyre test in Valencia.
Laconi endured a frustrating season as he was only able to finish sixth in the championship standings, missing the round at the Eurospeedway due to injury and only being able to watch on as
Lorenzo Lanzi impressed enough to secure a seat with the Xerox team for 2006 – leaving Laconi to look elsewhere.
The Frenchman signed a deal with the PSG-1 Kawasaki team late last week which sees him join Chris Walker and
Fonsi Nieto for the new season although no decision has yet been taken on the way the team will be organised.
The two day Spanish test saw Laconi post the tenth quickest time on his first run on the bike, with a fastest unofficial lap time of 1min 39.7secs.
Walker was sixth quickest while Nieto, who was also making his debut aboard the Kawasaki, was eighth fastest.
