With track temperatures at Brno hitting over 50 degrees the Yamaha Italia rider's, Noriyuki Haga and Troy Corser have been struggling with tyre choice.

As the temperature rises the grip levels drop off and over race distance it could be problematic. When the Yamaha squad last tested at Brno the track temperatures were a lot cooler and different settings worked well.

Provisional pole sitter Haga said, "Today has been good but I haven't yet found the right tyre setting. The heat has made it very difficult to find a tyre that'll do race distance. We had the same choice of tyres as at the test, but the track temperatures are so different - that's the biggest issue to overcome tomorrow. I also tried a different setting to what I had here at testing but it didn't increase my confidence at all.”

Weather is expected to be cooler on race day but Haga wants to be prepared for every eventuality, “I want to spend some time tomorrow on finding a better set-up for this heat as, although the weather on Sunday might be cooler, it might also be as hot. If I had to I would be happy to race tomorrow but I'd rather have an extra day to really get it right!"

Corser who came home a close second to his team-mate in qualifying was having the same problems, “"We made some good setting improvements from this morning to this afternoon but unfortunately we didn't make much progress on the tyre settings. I don't think we've ever ridden Pirelli's in such high track temperatures before and I found they were losing the little side grip they have. We're going to have to try and set the bike up the help the tyre.”

His main concern is consistency as he went on to say, “I was happy with the set-up we had at the end of the test here but it just doesn't feel the same now because of the difference in weather. Having said all of that I felt good on the bike, even the heat wasn't much of a problem for me. It's good to have achieved a good time at the end of the day but we still need to find the consistency."
