Having allowed his team-mate Sebastien Charpentier to lead the way during Friday's free practice and qualifying, Kenan Sofuoglu hit back during second free practice by taking the number one spot.
He lapped the difficult Brands circuit on his Hannspree Ten Kate Honda in 1min 28.958secs the only rider to dip into the 1min 28s. Joining the Hannspree pair was Craig Jones on the Reve Ekerold Honda in third place.
Speaking to
Crash.net he said, “I'm pleased with how things are going. Brands is a funny place for set-up and we tried our Brno settings but had to go back to what we know. I was putting in consistent lap times and I'm relatively happy where I am at the moment. Tommy Hill looked good out there, he looked fast and comfortable.”
Hill who is replacing the still injured Kevin Curtain on the SSP Yamaha had a tough day on track on Friday with two crashes which kept his mechanics busy. However he put all that behind him during second free practice to take fifth place behind usual World Supersport runner Massimo Roccoli in fourth.
Robbin Harms who also suffered a fall on Friday bounced back to finish in sixth place this morning, just ahead of his team-mate Josh Brookes on the Stiggy Hondas. Gianluca Vizziello on the RG Yamaha was running in eighth place ahead of Fabien Foret who could be the spoiler this weekend. The GIL Motorsport Kawasaki rider is second in the Championship and Sofuoglu needs to finish five points clear of him this weekend to seal the title. Katsuaki Fujiwara on the Althea Honda completed the top ten.
