The eleventh round of the World Supersport Championship at the EuroSpeedway in Germany has been greeted by chilly conditions which saw only a few riders take to the track for limited time.
Newly crowned World Supersport Champion,
Kenan Sofuoglu sat the session out along with his Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team-mate Sebastien Charpentier.
The fastest man on the damp track was GMT 94 Yamaha rider Sebastien Gimbert and he was closely followed by his team-mate David Checa. German rider Stefan Nebel on the Light Speed Kawasaki was in third place.
Next in the unusual top ten was Spaniard Joan Lascroz on the Ganer Motocard.com Honda. A more familiar rider and former GP star, Simone Sanna also graced the top ten in fifth place on the Parkalgar Honda. Gregory Leblanc took up sixth place with Arturo Tizon in seventh.
The regular suspects return in eighth place with Katsuaki Fujiwara on the Althea Honda. Josh Brookes on the Stiggy Motorsport Honda was running in ninth and Britain's Tommy Hill was tenth. Hill is taking up the vacant space in the SSP Yamaha team, replacing Kevin Curtain. The Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha British Superbike rider impressed the team when he rode for them at Brands Hatch securing a fifth place finish.
Craig Jones on the Reve Ekerold Honda was in thirteenth place and is recovering well from his high speed off at
Brands Hatch. He damaged his pelvis in the fall but is determined to pull off a strong result this weekend at a circuit he knows and likes.
Another British rider has made it into World Supersport and that is Graeme Gowland riding for the Benjan Motoren Honda team. Gowland is a former R6 cup competitor and also ran as a wild card at Brands Hatch.
