Corser lost his Alstare Suzuki seat to Max Biaggi for 2007, but was quickly scooped up to partner
Noriyuki Haga at Yamaha. Although yet to win a race, Corser has taken eight podiums, two pole positions and sits fifth in the current championship standings.
"It's been good," Corser told
Crash.net Radio when asked about his first season at Yamaha. "In the beginning it was all a bit of trial and error I guess, learning the mechanics the bike and myself.
"It took us a few races, although the results weren't too bad, to get the whole thing working as a team, which I feel we have now - we're working as one. I find I'm out on the track a lot more, rather than changing things during the practice sessions. That shows to me that we're getting the bike set-up quicker.
"I think a lot of it is down to me, just getting used to riding the bike. That sounds crazy, but it's just so different to ride compared with the Suzuki. I've had to, not change my style, but adapt my style to the bike I think. It's taken me a little while but now we're on top of it.
"I really want to win at least one race before the end of the season. The racing is that tight at the moment that to be on the podium will be a good result for the rest of the year, but it'd be really nice to step on top of the box and win my first race with Yamaha," he declared.
Looking to 2008, the 35-year-old - currently third on the all time WSBK win list with 33 victories - admits he is still to sign, but says he's a wanted man.
"I've obviously spoken to Yamaha already," said Troy. "Up until now it's been a bit soon for people to know what their plans are for next year, with sponsors and so on. Yamaha is probably one of the few teams already set up in terms of sponsors for next year so they're in a position to start talking now. We'll wait and see. It's just nice to know that people want me again. After getting off the Suzuki, where the second season wasn't so good, I think this year I've proven I'm still at the top and a frontrunner.
"I'll definitely be here in the paddock next year, that's all I can say at the moment," concluded Corser.
