World Superbikes » Cracked swing arm stopped JT in Germany.

Saturday, 29th September 2007

James Toseland had two difficult races in Germany which allowed Noriyuki Haga to close the points gap to him. It looked very much like a tyre problem as he was struggling with the bike and gradually moving backwards as others picked him off.

With everything to play for this weekend the pressure still hasn't got to the chilled out former World Champ as he said, “I've never felt pressure really. I know the bike is working well, the team is working well and I'm riding well at the moment. All season we have been consistently strong so there is no reason why we can't be here and we don't need to do anything different to what we have been doing all year. I'm not feeling the pressure at all. I'm 41 points in the lead, we've got a good enough package to race at the front this weekend and it is just up to me to get the job done.”

Toseland feels all he needs to do is keep the bad luck, like the cracked swinging arm, at bay along with Haga – perhaps not such an easy task! “We need to keep away from little bits of bad luck. We are still consistently at the front, here we need to work hard and hopefully we'll get on the podium twice in front of Haga, score nine points more than him and win the Championship,” he concluded.
