When the lights went out Jones on the Reve Ekerold Honda got a superb start and sprinted away from the rest of the field. As the race settled down he could see he was being reeled in by Sofuoglu. The Turkish rider managed to take the lead just at the right point of the race as it was red flagged due to a heavy crash leaving a substantial amount of oil on track
Jones had just regained the lead when the red flag appeared, since the results were taken from the previous lap the win went to Sofuoglu. Jones was a bit gutted with the result but he was happy to have shown his pace and that he is capable of running at the front.
The final step of the podium went to Spanish rider Joan Lascorz who claimed his first World level podium finish.
Broc Parkes was disappointed to finish in fourth place as he had won the previous two rounds on his SSP Yamaha. The team have been struggling with the front end due to the hard tyre that they usually run not being available to them this weekend.
His team-mate Tommy Hill didn't get very far due to a crash on the opening lap. He was trying to avoid another rider and in doing so he locked up the front of his bike, almost went over the handle bars but landed back on the bike before tumbling into the gravel. Hill had hoped to restart but a broken foot peg soon ended that idea.
