Stand in rider, Neukirchner was quite shocked to be in second place on the front row of the grid, “I'm really surprised to be here. My first time on the front row this year, last time was in 2005. It is my first time on a factory bike too. The bike the team and I are working well.”
Corser wasn't too pleased with his result saying, “I'm a little disappointed, I should have got pole position. I went out on a tyre that had five laps on it from free practice. I lost a bit of time on the brakes in the last sector. I have to say thanks to Nori as he helped with the bike it is working well and I'm looking forward to tomorrow. The Pirellis work well in these cooler conditions. They slide when it warms up. I hope tomorrow is cool like today, we know what to do if it warms ups. I've done a long run and the tyre will last the race. I need a good start and let the championship unfold.”
Haga completes the front row and is happy with his set-up and ready to race, “I have a comfortable feel with the bike and it has been going well since Friday. I already decide everything for tomorrow I hope to make a big fight for the top ten.”
Despite his early form and a 1min 38.955secs lap time Lorenzo Lanzi heads up row two of the grid on the Xerox Ducati. He is joined by Max Biaggi who was the first rider to hit the 1min 38sec lap time. The Alstare Corona Extra rider is sandwiched by Ducatis with Troy Bayliss next to him in seventh.
Regis Laconi strung together a good lap to nab the last place on the second row of the grid for his PSG-1 Kawasaki. His team-mate Fonsi Nieto lines up on the next row in ninth place and Ruben Xaus completes the top ten on his Sterilgarda Ducati.
