Toseland rode from last to seventh in race one, meaning that - even if
Noriyuki Haga scored a double win - the Englishman just had to finish eighth or better in race two to take the title, which he more than achieved with a safe sixth.
And just before the start of that second race, Toseland was 'greeted' on the grid by a badly bruised Lanzi...
"As soon as the first race had finished I asked 'how's Lanzi?' because I knew it was a big one, but he was fine. He wasn't racing in the second race and he came up to me on the grid and said 'you bastardo! blah, blah, blah!' " laughed Toseland. "But we're really good friends, considering he took my job a couple of years ago!
"
Lorenzo Lanzi is a young talented kid and I hope he gets some chance," added Toseland, referring to the Italian having lost his factory Ducati ride. "He deserves that chance. A lot of people have forgotten what he did in 2005 on the Ducati, especially here and at Lausitzring. I hope he gets an opportunity because he's a nice kid. He had the tragedy with his father and I hope he gets an opportunity."
