World Superbikes » Toseland: I feel for Haga.

Monday, 8th October 2007

Shortly after winning his second World Superbike championship at a tense Magny-Cours finale on Sunday, James Toseland spared a thought for title rival Noriyuki Haga.

The Japanese dominated both races at Magny-Cours, but was left just two points short of Toseland at the final count.

"Haga was strong here from Friday onwards and has been an awesome, awesome threat this season. He's been my toughest competitor from start to finish," said Toseland. "I feel for Nori because he's never won the championship and I'm sat here with the feeling of winning it twice. I'm a very fortunate young kid to have felt this way, not just once, but twice."

Haga, who won six races this season compared with Toseland's eight, has now been WSBK runner-up twice, in 2000 and 2007.
