Nieto had finished fifth in race one, but took only his second ever WSBK podium with a determined race two ride - in which he overcame former double world champion Troy Corser.

"Despite a poor Superpole I continued to fight, together with my team, and this is the result we got," said Nieto. "I've tried everything I could to stay among the leaders and I did it, taking home two great results. I felt this was my duty for all the great work the team did during the entire season. I already feel nostalgic because this was my last round with the Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team in with I've spent three years of my career and where I found lots of friends, but I'm happy to give this present to all of them."

Nieto is expected to ride for Alstare Suzuki in 2008, with the Spaniard's replacement still to be announced. Team-mate Regis Laconi has already re-signed for PSG-1.
