Q Motorsport have taken on a big challenge and that is to try and develop British talent within the World Superbike paddock, starting out with five young riders in the Superstock class.

Ideally the team wants to take these young riders up through the ranks developing their talent both on and off the track. For the 2008 season they have signed up British Superstock riders Peter Hickman and Paul Veazey to ride in the 1000cc Superstock class. They have also enlisted the services of Leon Hunt, Dan Brill and Dan Rosamond who will compete in 600cc Superstock.

The team will field Yamahas and are well aware of the difficult task ahead of them with five riders to deal with.

Team manager Mark Quelch said: “We aim to achieve in motorcycle racing what McLaren have in F1 with Lewis Hamilton. We have some very good young riders in the UK with a lot of raw talent that needs guidance. At this time there is nowhere for these riders to go unless they have commercial help.”

As with any team that is starting out, sponsorship is important and if they are to expand as they hope to do then it will be paramount. “With some assistance from sponsors we can take these riders to the 2008 European Superstock Championships and in 2009 promote them to the next level of either Superbike or Supersport. We would then begin the process again with four more new riders in a satellite Superstock team,” concluded Quelch.

Q Motorsport's ultimate goal is to build an academy that will take the best of British riding talent and mould them into future World champions.
