Team-mate and 2007 world championship runner-up Noriyuki Haga was again second fastest, 0.6secs behind Corser, with Ducati's former double world champion Troy Bayliss and WSBK rookie Carlos Checa - making an impressive debut for Ten Kate Honda - tied for third, a further 0.3secs adrift.

Fonsi Nieto was again the lead Suzuki in fifth, with new Ducati Xerox rider Michel Fabrizio sixth, reigning World Supersport champion Kenan Sofuoglu seventh and Yukio Kagayama eighth.
