World Superbikes » Tamada debut as Kawasaki unleashes '08.

Monday, 17th December 2007

Former MotoGP race winner Makoto Tamada made his WSBK debut with PSG-1 Kawasaki during testing at Jerez on Monday, when the team also got its hands on the 2008-spec ZX-10R for the first time.

Tamada, a triple WSBK race winner as a Honda wild-card during 2001 and 2002, completed short bursts out on track as he adapted the frame geometry to suit his style.

Team-mate Regis Laconi, a PSG-1 rider for the past two seasons, had already tested the new bike in Japan, but was able to confirm the improvements made for the '08, which is said to feature a significant power increase.

Testing continues on Tuesday and Wednesday, when PSG-1 will focus its attention on matching the new-found power to the frame and tyres.
