World Superbikes » Bayliss lowers best to stay ahead.

Wednesday, 9th January 2008

Troy Bayliss trimmed his best lap time by 0.3secs during Wednesday's second day of testing at Phillip Island in Australia, keeping the Ducati Xerox rider on top - albeit by just 0.1secs from Alstare Suzuki's Yukio Kagayama.

Rea's team-mate Andrew Pitt set a 1min 35.3secs; Stiggy Motorsports Honda rider Josh Brookes a 1min 35.8secs and class rookie Chris Walker (GIL Kawasaki) a best of 1min 36.0secs lap, equalling Parkes' team-mate Fabien Foret.

Despite setting just a handful of laps, Garry McCoy was immediately fast on the Triumph triple again, until a technical problem put him back in the garage for much of the allotted test time.

Katsuaki Fujiwara (GIL Kawasaki) and Robbin Harms (Stiggy Honda) rounded out the WSS order on day two, and with temperatures predicted to be even hotter in the last day than the previous two, most riders would be looking to set their best of test lap time in the cooler morning hours on Thursday.
