Alstare man to miss Phillip Island.

As expected, the Alstare Suzuki team has confirmed that Yukio Kagayama will miss the second round of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island this weekend.

The Japanese rider endured a difficult start to the year at Losail when an incident with Carlos Checa early on in race two led to him falling from his GSX-R1000.

Kagayama suffered a broken left collarbone as a result of the fall and has had a metal plate inserting into his shoulder to hold the collarbone together in an effort to ensure his fitness for the Valencia test session in a fortnight.

"Some mixed feelings last weekend, because of Yukio's injury, but I'm really happy with Fonsi's win," team manager Francis Batta said. "I'm also very happy with Max's performance and I'm sure he'll be stronger this weekend. So, for this race, it's just Fonsi and Max carrying our new colours, but I think they can once again make some good results.

"Yukio is a very tough racer and he will be back in two week's time for sure."
