Double World Superbike champion
Troy Bayliss - leader of the 2008 standings after two rounds - has confirmed that he still intends to be involved in motor sport next season.
The 38-year-old Australian will call time on a late starting, but subsequently illustrious, two-wheeled career - which has seen him win in both WSBK and
MotoGP - at the end of 2008, but won't withdraw from racing altogether.
"I don't think I'm finished with racing. All I know is I've had enough of racing World Superbikes," Australia's
Herald Sun reports Bayliss as saying. "I love touring cars... I'd rather watch touring car races than any other racing. It's close and it's full-on, just like Superbikes."
While there are numerous touring car championships that would welcome a household name like Bayliss, Troy seems to be heading towards involvement in Australia's prestigious V8 Supercar series.
"I'm still going to be involved in motor sport in some shape or form," he underlined. "I'm not sure what exactly, but it won't involve too much travel."
"I'm over planes," he said. "The travel, the time away from family... I've had enough of all that.
"That said, I'm still going to work with Ducati and I'll probably go to four or five events a year.
"The difference is it will be as it suits both of us."
Bayliss has won three of the first four WSBK races of 2008 with the brand-new 1098 Ducati, handing him a 27-point lead over Alstare Suzuki's
Fonsi Nieto.
