With Ruben Xaus sitting out the second and final day of the Valencia test due to a shortage of engine parts, another satellite rider stepped into the spotlight - in the form of DF Racing's Karl Muggeridge.

The three Alstare Suzuki GSX-R1000 riders - who set their best lap times on race tyres - were next up, with second-in-the-points Fonsi Nieto improving in the afternoon to nip ahead of German team-mate Max Neukirchner, who fell during a late qualifying tyre lap, while Yukio Kagayama was eighth quickest.

Hannspree Honda Althea's Roberto Rolfo and PSG-1 Kawasaki's Makoto Tamada rounded off the top ten covered by 1.3secs.

Yamaha Motor Italia chose not to attend the test.
