Hannspree Ten Kate Honda's Andrew Pitt has taken provisional World Supersport pole position for Sunday's third round, at Valencia in Spain.

The Australian, who bounced back from a Qatar DNF by winning his home event last time out at Phillip Island, finished the Friday afternoon session 0.295secs in front of fellow CBR600RR rider Craig Jones, of Parkalgar Racing.

"We have made a big improvement from the test we did two weeks ago, about 1 second, which is a big improvement around here," said Pitt. "I had a good talk with Sebastian [Charpentier] just before the session on trying some different things and how to approach the qualifying, which I think helped me a lot to day. I am already in the 1min 36secs and planning to take off another two tenths tomorrow and qualify on the front row."

Katsuaki Fujiwara gave Gil Kawasaki an overnight third on the grid, just ahead of Australians Broc Parkes (Yamaha World Supersport) and Josh Brookes (Hannspree Stiggy Honda).
