Xaus and Biaggi will be separated by a second row line-up of Lorenzo Lanzi (RG Team), Ryuichi Kiyonari (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda), Checa and Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia).

Corser was one of the biggest losers during Superpole, having held fourth heading into the session, while team-mate and 2007 world championship runner-up Noriyuki Haga will start only tenth on the grid as his tough weekend continues.

Michael Fabrizio may have been less than one second from pole position, but that was only good enough for eleventh place on the second factory 1098. The young Italian will thus be a little disappointed, especially having placed higher during the two qualifying sessions leading up to Superpole.

Twelfth for Makoto Tamada made the former MotoGP and WSBK race winner the highest placed Kawasaki, while Nieto, David Checa (Yamaha France), Regis Laconi (Kawasaki) and Jakub Smrz (Guandalini Racing) rounded out the 16 Superpole riders.
