After qualifying on the front row of the grid, in fourth position, for Sunday's pair of Valencia races,
Ruben Xaus is targeting a repeat of his popular 2007 home victory.
"Today we have fixed the problems which influenced our work yesterday and I could lap as during the testing," said the Sterilgarda Go Eleven rider. "I will start from the first row and I will aim to repeat last year's result although it will be very hard this time.
"During the first part of the race nobody will get away from the rest of the field. Tomorrow is expected to be hot, therefore whoever manages the tyre best will have the more opportunities to make a difference in the last 10 laps," he revealed.
"We have what it takes to score good results tomorrow and I hope to reach the podium in both races," added team manager Marco Borciani.
Xaus' team-mate Max Biaggi had openly doubted his presence on the Valencia starting grid after Friday, due to pain from his recently fractured wrist, but the Roman will line-up in ninth position after a brave day two effort. Nevertheless, Sunday looks like being little more than damage limitation.
"I still have trouble when the motorbike is full of fuel," said Max. "I don't want to set any goal for tomorrow. Most of the braking here is on the left side and the arm hurts. Anyway the race is long and you never know..."
"My deepest compliments to Max and his staff. They did an extraordinary job and I'm sure that tomorrow he will amaze all of us," praised Borciani.
