Xaus, Biaggi Valencia WSBK Race 2 2008

World Superbikes » Sterilgarda boss wants Assen podiums.

Wednesday, 23rd April 2008

After a disappointing Valencia round, Sterilgarda Go Eleven team manager Marco Borciani wants to see both Ruben Xaus and Max Biaggi back on the podium at Assen this weekend.

Xaus looked set to play a starring role at his home round, after qualifying on the front row of the grid, but a fall in race one and then seventh place in race two was his only reward.

Biaggi meanwhile hadn't even been sure if he could last the full Valencia weekend, due to his recently broken wrist, but the Roman dug deep and - after a disappointing 16th in race one - took a hard fought eighth, just behind Xaus, in race two.

Xaus finished third in race one at Assen last season, with Biaggi - who has gathered further strength in his wrist since Valencia - claiming the final podium spot in race two on his Dutch WSBK debut.

"We are going to face this round in optimal conditions," declared Borciani. "Both Max and Ruben took the podium last year and I'm sure they have what it takes this time too. Rain is expected for the weekend but I hope the track will be dry on Sunday, as the sea is nearby the weather changes very quickly here."
