World Superbikes » Checa says sorry - again.

Thursday, 24th April 2008

The Thursday press conference at Assen reunited Max Neukirchner and Carlos Checa for the first time since the Spaniard attempted to pass the German for victory at the very last turn of race one at Valencia - bringing them both down.

Both were battling for their first ever WSBK victory and emotions were naturally running high after the incident - which left Neukirchner with a fractured collarbone - but were back on civil terms on Thursday (pictured).

"First of all I would like to say sorry again to Neukirchner for Valencia, it was not my intention, I thought I could pass and that's all," said Checa.

"I had an operation on the Monday after the crash and after a few days I started again with my fitness training," explained Neukirchner. "Now I am well and I hope I can ride here very fast. I was very angry after the incident but now everything is OK with Carlos."
