The 26-year-old Australian has been among the quickest riders all weekend and, lying second in the points standings, will be looking to reign in the points lead that Spaniard Joan Lascorz has established.
Jonathan Rea, riding for the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team, has hit the ground running here in Holland and after a troubled couple of rounds looks to be capable of securing a first Supersport win.
Rea will start the race from second place and alongside him will be Craig Jones on the Parkalgar Honda.
The former Triumph and Foggy petronas rider is benefitting in Holland from improved engine power and it shows. The spectacular tail out style of the Northwich man much in evidence around the sweeps of the Assen circuit.
Completing the front row is former Superport World Champion Faben Foret. The Frenchman, who has a penchant for looking over his shoulder when he shouldn't, put in a quick lap with seconds to spare on the sister bike to Parkes factory Yamaha.
Other impressive performers were Lascorz in fifth showing that his championship position is a reflection of all round form and ability rather then one off performances.
Remember the impressive form shown by Glen Richards on the Triumph at
Thruxton in British Supersport? Well the British marque is well represented in WSS too, Italian Ivan Clementi has been quick all weekend in Holland and will start sixth for his Triumph Italia team.
On home ground Barry Veneman threw his name in the hat for a podium with a good ride to eighth.
Of the other Brits, Chris Walker put in a good laet lap to start 20th but Graeme Gowland has struggled so far. He wil start 27th only a little in front of Kev Coghlan who is dovetailing his weekend between World Superport and Superstock 600.
