The matching of this result only told half the story though as the previous best was achieved by team mate
Regis Laconi in the crash strewn first race at Valencia.
This result shows a great improvement for the Italian team that have run riders like Pier-Francesco Chili and Chris Walker in the past. The Kawasaki ZX10 is getting better all the time and the team are working hard to move up the placings.
Tamada was able to run in the top ten throughout qualifying and practice and with two good starts was again up there in both races.
A recent test at
Jerez has enabled the Japanese former GP race winner and three time WSBK winner to get a good base setup, giving him and the team something to build on.
"These results give me great satisfaction," said Tamada. "I feel I could maybe have achieved more but the rear grip was very bad at the end of both races.
"The promise shown here though is proof that what we sorted at Jerez was the right way and the team can improve parts and performance now."
By contrast Regis Laconi had a difficult time at Assen. He was able to get good starts like his team mate, but from there was hampered by chatter from his rear wheel.
The problem has affected the Frenchman's riding all weekend and despite a big effort from the team to rectify the fault his results were only an eleventh place points position.
"It might seem repetitive but the chatter has been a problem all weekend," explained the former GP winner. "I could not really do more than this."
"The problem could not be dialled out and my style seems to make the problem worse. We will try and come up with a solution for Monza and let's hope it's sorted there."
