The Italian underwent surgery on his right forearm after suffering intense pain during both races at Assen, contributing to an accident in race one and a retirement in race two.
Fabrizio, who has switched from a satellite 1000cc Honda to a factory 1200cc Ducati for 2008, is said to have been suffering from the problem for 'a few months', perhaps due to the 1098 requiring a much more physical riding style.
The surgery, carried out at the Villa Serena clinic in Forli by Doctor Giorgio Gondolini, was declared a success and Michel came away with 26 stitches. Fabrizio will now undergo further therapies and treatments to speed up his recovery in time for the first of Ducati's home WSBK rounds, at Monza, on May 11,
Lorenzo also recently underwent an operation on his right forearm, after finding the switch from nimble 250cc machinery to powerful 800cc
MotoGP prototypes produced arm pump problems over a race distance.
Lorenzo was nonetheless still able to claim three pole and three podiums - including a race win - before undergoing surgery, while Fabrizio's best result of the season so far is a third position at Phillip Island.
