World Superbikes » Zemke can't make Monza.

Thursday, 8th May 2008

AMA star Jake Zemke has been forced to abandon a last minute chance to replace Roberto Rolfo at the Hannspree Honda Althea team for this weekend's Monza round of the World Superbike Championship.

Comment on this Story
Rolfo broke his left collarbone during a mountain bike accident last weekend and was expected to be replaced by Italian veteran Giovanni Bussei.

However, Bussei had injured his right arm in a Supermoto accident three week's ago and, after trying to ride earlier this week, realised he was not fit enough to campaign the CBR1000RR.

As a result, Zemke was asked to take the ride - and apparently accepted - but the 32-year-old, a nine time race winner in the AMA Superbike, Supersport and Formula Extreme classes, simply ran out to of time to complete the necessary paperwork and travel to Monza from Utah, where he has been testing.

Rolfo's Monza replacement thus remains a mystery.
